Learn a bit about what we do

Inside Out Therapy

Inside Out Therapy is a new service based in the Limerick area. The service works with children and families with a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs. While Inside Out Therapy works with all children, it places a special emphasis on neurodiversity. Children who are neurodiverse experience the world in different and often challenging ways. These children require specialised supports so that they can enjoy, and grow from the therapeutic process.

Helping Children and
Young People

Inside Out Therapy uses a unique approach to helping children and young people. The therapeutic approach involves a blend of behavioural psychology with pluralistic psychotherapy. Pluralism refers to an approach that embraces diverse therapeutic perspectives and interventions. It recognises that no single therapeutic approach is universally effective for all individuals, and that different approaches work for different people. Pluralistic practice involves collaborating with the client, setting goals, and using the client’s own strengths and resources as a way to meet these goals. Inside Out Therapy uses a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities including, but not limited to behavioural therapy, clinical psychotherapy, and mindfulness.

Behavioural Assessments

This innovative service delivers behavioural assessments to children and young people. Often behavioural assessments are delivered to children with Autism, but they can be useful for any child. Behavioural assessments may explore how a child’s behaviour is reducing their ability to learn, socialise, or manage their emotions. A key aspect of the pluralistic approach is flexibility, and assessments are delivered in flexible ways to ensure children have a positive and meaningful experience of both assessments and intervention. The findings of a behavioural assessment make up some of the major goals that become the focus of the child’s therapy programme. Sources which inform therapy goals include parents, teachers, and of course the child themselves.
